It can be said that at the Spring 2024 tournament, there are two teams that are particularly attracting attention. The first reason is that they come from two of the top LoL regions in the world (LCK – LPL). And the second reason: they are the only two teams in the group of four Major regions without a single victory. Those teams are OKSavingsBank BRION (LCK) and Edward Gaming (LPL). Notably, EDG is the 2021 World Champion, while OKBRO was expected to perform better. However, currently, both are facing the same predicament of a sharp decline in both performance and the morale of their players is at an extremely low level.
However, if we look further at smaller regions within the LoL scene, the VCS also draws attention as this is a region with a strong LoL foundation, but there is one team that is also facing a “shared predicament” with World Champion EDG. Specifically, this is Rainbow Warriors, a name that has garnered significant attention as it brings together many familiar faces for VCS fans, such as 2T, Zin, Artifact, Spot, and EasyLove. This RW team is also a rookie in VCS Spring 2024. But they are showing that even with many players who have previously fought in VCS, it does not mean they can compete at the highest level of LoL in Vietnam.
In reality, RW has not once even reached the opponent’s base of any VCS team they have faced this Spring. This record extends even to matches against teams that are also struggling at the bottom of the standings like themselves (MGN Blue Esports or CERBERUS Esports). And for those who may not know, RW is even worse off than both EDG and OKBRO in that they have not secured a single win against any VCS teams, with a record of 0 wins – 14 losses.
Witnessing the disappointing performance of RW, many VCS fans have even suggested that the team may be showing signs of negativity. Of course, these may just be expressions of disappointment when witnessing RW’s complete defeats, from their performance to a lack of visible effort. Notably, the players of RW are not unknown, and over time, they have established some reputation in the Vietnamese LoL scene.
There is still a chance that RW could “turn things around” in the upcoming matches. Theoretically, they still have a clear opportunity to save themselves. But whether the players can seize this opportunity depends on their own decisions.
