Faker unexpectedly becomes the “villain” in… a novel
Perhaps it goes without saying that Faker is not only famous in League of Legends or limited to South Korea. For the esports community in general, and even in regions that compete with the LCK, Faker has a substantial fanbase, particularly in the LPL. While the number of Faker’s anti-fans in the LPL may be large due to his continuous defeats of teams from that region, his fanbase is equally impressive. Recently, a female novelist in China “bit the bullet” for “daring” to turn Faker into a villain.

According to reports, a new online literary work from China recently emerged, focusing on esports and specifically League of Legends. The author had previously written a piece related to PUBG and received quite a bit of positive feedback. However, in this latest work, the female author deliberately portrayed Faker as a villain with misleading information, such as the detail that the main character only won 1 championship in the largest tournament over 3 years, or the author’s intentional emphasis on Faker’s injuries because she had already set him up as a villain.

Subsequently, as the work spread widely and gained attention from the esports community, many people discovered that the author attributed Faker’s achievements to the main character, while this character was actually based on the career life of JackeyLove. This led to some absurdities regarding the titles mentioned above.
The LPL community is also upset as this is not the first time Faker has become a “victim”
On various forums, many LPL viewers expressed their frustration. In fact, many even asserted that the author’s work was perhaps intended to “fleece” readers who are not part of the esports community.

– Does the female author Jiang Ziboi really think there are no Faker fans in China? Does she know that he has also donated to us in times of trouble?
– He is always friendly and has many good relationships with LPL players, many of whom are his fans, and now someone wants him to break his arm?
– The character Master (the villain based on Faker) has provocative and derogatory remarks towards opponents and other regions; I don’t know of any Faker who acts like that.

This is not the first time Faker has been cast as a “villain” in literary and cinematic works. Years ago, there was a film about esports titled “The Most Beautiful When Smiling” that portrayed Faker as an arrogant and haughty villain who looked down on others. This film also received countless “bricks and stones” and was rated extremely low before being quietly pulled from the air.
