In the world of League of Legends, few are unfamiliar with T1. The most successful team in League of Legends not only boasts a rich history and numerous titles but was also once regarded as a breeding ground for many superstars who emerged from the SKT T1/T1 youth teams, going on to become champions in other teams. A prime example is Scout, who was once considered a successor to Faker but, unable to secure a spot on the main roster, moved to the LPL. Scout later became a legend in Chinese League of Legends with multiple titles alongside EDG, peaking with the World Championship victory in 2021.
After many ups and downs, Scout is currently the Mid Laner for LNG Esports. However, this season, the “Suzhou Unicorn” has not performed well, and Scout is one of the names facing significant criticism and scrutiny. Recently, Scout came under fire when renowned LPL commentator Teddy Guan alleged that the former T1 star and 2021 World Champion used “hack pause” to temporarily halt the game during a match between LNG and AL. Notably, even though he himself did not know the reason, the commentator was adamant in accusing Scout: “I have never encountered an error when selecting Karma. Clearly, this pause affected the enemy Jungler.”
Interestingly, shortly after, a clip showing Scout’s POV (point of view) revealed that the player actually encountered a bug with Karma and the game pause was necessary. At this moment, a wave of online comments turned against the “accuser” Teddy Guan. In fact, the commentator has yet to issue any apology to Scout or LNG.
In the past, Teddy Guan has been involved in numerous controversies with teams, players, and colleagues. He once claimed that a female colleague was only interested in “gold digging” while not being an insider, or he has openly criticized the T1 roster during the 2022 World Championship. Most notably, his fame is largely tied to his inaccurate predictions about match outcomes and his relationship with the “LPL goddess” Candace.
Currently, both LNG and Scout have not made any statements regarding the accusations from the commentator, aside from the clip denying Scout’s “tricks.” As for Teddy Guan, he will likely remain silent and wait for things to settle down as usual.
