In recent days, the Vietnamese League of Legends community is in turmoil over the allegations surrounding VCS regarding corruption. Notably, this could potentially be the largest corruption case ever seen in Vietnamese League of Legends. Even figures who seemingly have never cared or have stepped away from VCS have offered their opinions. Naturally, rumors regarding the fates of teams and players have flourished as a result. Recently, a surprising new detail has emerged, leaving the audience VCS extremely bewildered.

Specifically, in the Police Newspaper issue dated March 22, the allegations surrounding VCS were mentioned and dedicated an entire page to report the incident. This indicates that the situation is no longer confined to League of Legends or Esports but has garnered attention from both the online community and ordinary readers. It can be said that regardless of how this case is adjudicated, it will undoubtedly shake the entire Vietnamese Esports scene and provoke significant changes.

However, the question arises: What will happen next if the corruption allegations are confirmed? The players’ behavior surrounding match-fixing has a significant impact on the tournament as well as the reputation of Vietnamese League of Legends and Esports in the S-shaped country in general. According to information from representatives of Minh Khue Law Firm, the act of match-fixing (if any) by VCS teams or players, especially if there are players involved in gambling (such as betting on VCS matches), could be prosecuted under Article 321 of the Penal Code 2015, amended and supplemented in 2017.

Furthermore, with the incident being reported in the Police Newspaper, it cannot be ruled out that not only the Esports community but also the public has been informed about the matter. Naturally, this will significantly affect how outsiders view Vietnamese Esports, which has already faced many challenges and criticisms when the perception still conflates professional Esports with trivial gaming.

Whatever happens, it can be said that VCS and the entire Vietnamese Esports community are going through tense days. And everything will only become clear when the VCS organizers and Riot deliver their final verdict.
