Despite the emergence of teams like TW and VKE in recent years, GAM’s dominance remains overwhelming. However, following the recent “incident” in the VCS, hopes for a new champion in the tournament have become greater than ever.
This is because many legendary players of the Vietnamese League of Legends scene have been announced to return to compete in the VCS Spring 2024 playoffs. On the evening of March 31, VKE announced the return of the 2020 World Championship runner-up – SofM. On April 1, TW unexpectedly announced the return of former player Killerqueen and another legend of the Vietnamese League of Legends scene named Optimus.
Right after TW posted the announcement, the VCS fan community expressed immense excitement. For TW, these are essential additions for the Jungle and Mid positions after Glory and BeanJ were temporarily suspended. Furthermore, Optimus’s experience will surely help TW’s young roster grow rapidly in the near future. Interestingly, TW’s announcement on April 1 initially led fans to believe it was an “April Fool’s joke”.
Moreover, Optimus’s return makes the VCS Spring 2024 playoffs suddenly much more exciting. This is due to legendary names like SofM, Levi, and Optimus having the chance to compete against each other on the VCS stage. If it weren’t for the negative drama that led to more than half of the VCS players being temporarily suspended, this would likely never have happened.
Not stopping there, players like SofM, Levi, and Optimus are all considered symbols of professionalism in the VCS region. In the current context, where audience trust in the tournament is at a low point, the return of these legends will significantly contribute to restoring the tournament’s image.
In conclusion, although Optimus and Killerqueen have been away from competitive play for a long time, their return will significantly enhance TW’s strength. We hope that TW will perform successfully and create noteworthy highlights in the upcoming playoffs with such high-quality additions.
