On May 11, the Vietnam Game Awards 2024 took place – an event aimed at honoring various categories of games, players, teams, publishers, and brands associated with the gaming community in Vietnam, from computers to beverage companies. Additionally, the event was combined with the Vietnam Game Festival, held at Phu Tho Sports Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting a large number of young attendees.

At VGA 2024 this year, Teamfight Tactics won the Game of the Year award. This is truly a commendable victory for Riot’s game mode as the Teamfight Tactics community continues to grow. In fact, Riot has even created a dedicated tournament for Teamfight Tactics, which is quite impressive for a game that initially aimed to help gamers “de-stress”. Teamfight Tactics is even as popular as League of Legends and has surpassed many prominent names in the nomination list such as Revelation: Thiên Dụ, Battle Team 2 – Truy Kích PC, and Con Đường Tơ Lụa – Silkroad Origin VTC.

However, the biggest winner in the esports categories is undoubtedly Arena of Valor and Saigon Phantom. Specifically, the most prominent mobile esports game in Vietnam was voted as the Best Esports Game. With this achievement, Arena of Valor has surpassed League of Legends – a game regarded as the “national MOBA game” and even tough competitors like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire were also nominated. Not to mention, with its strong longevity over the years, Arena of Valor also won the Timeless Game category.

For their part, Saigon Phantom also had a fantastic year with the Best Esports Team award. The captain of SGP – Lai Bâng also received the Best Esports Athlete award. However, due to a busy schedule, Lai Bâng couldn’t attend VGA 2024. In fact, Lai Bâng’s victory was not a surprise as he maintained a good form over the past year and has been a leading figure for SGP.

Saigon Phantom and player Lai Bâng also dominated the Best Esports Team and Best Esports Athlete categories at VGA 2024
Despite having a fairly large community, the Most Favorite Esports Community award did not go to League of Legends, but to its “rival” Battle Teams 2 – Truy Kích PC. Not only is it a place to play games, but the Battle Teams 2 community is also a platform for skill development and showcasing talent and creativity. Within the community, competing teams regularly host livestreams for interaction and experience sharing.

The victories at VGA 2024 are expected to lay a solid foundation for individuals and teams to continue to leverage their strengths, improve day by day, and keep delivering a more successful year of 2024 for their fans.
