This victory propelled Gen.G to the top of the LCK Summer 2024 standings with a perfect record and no losses yet.
For Canyon, this player also made a significant impact in Gen.G’s recent victory by using Zyra in both games. It’s worth noting that this is the first time Jungle Zyra has appeared in the LCK, indicating that Canyon is in extremely high form. This player has made a name for himself with Nidalee and recently with the highly annoying Jungle Zyra.
After the match concluded, many spectators and media in South Korea mentioned the “Golden Path” to praise Gen.G’s strength. This is understandable as Gen.G has won both the LCK Spring and MSI 2024. They are also performing at a very high level in the summer tournament, and it is not out of the question that Gen.G could sweep up the remaining titles this year. However, Canyon himself was quite cautious when referring to this in a post-match interview.
“As a professional player, winning and gaining more titles is always my goal. It would be wonderful to achieve that remarkable feat (the Golden Path). However, it is still too early to mention that right now. I believe that the Gen.G team and I should focus on the upcoming match rather than any future scenarios. This will help us achieve better results,” Canyon shared.
Remember at the time of the 2023 World Championship, the term “Golden Path” was also frequently mentioned when JDG had the opportunity to complete it. However, in the pre-match video for the Semifinals between JDG and T1, Faker made a strong statement about stopping this.
