When mentioning the oldest players in League of Legends today, Faker would likely be one of the first names that come to mind. Specifically in LCK, Faker’s birth year of 1996 could be considered the oldest. This is because the few older Korean players like Impact have long transitioned to compete in the LCS. Meanwhile, those who remain have either retired or are still involved in professional League of Legends in different roles, with only Deft still being a rival to Faker. However, recently, Faker is no longer the oldest player to have achieved POG in LCK Summer 2024.

And the player who “stole” this title from Faker is still somewhat relatively… “unknown” in the professional League of Legends community, namely GuGer – the Support born in 1994 from Nongshim RedForce. In the recent victory against DRX, GuGer was voted POG of the entire match, making him the first player in LCK history to achieve POG at the age of 30.

In reality, for the global League of Legends community, GuGer is quite unknown, but he has been competing professionally for a long time, having joined one of LCK’s once-famous teams, NaJin White Shield. However, GuGer’s career has been quite tumultuous, and he has had to wander through many different teams, even going abroad to Taipei Assassins or dropping to lower-tier teams to seek opportunities. GuGer joined NS’s academy team at the beginning of 2024 and was recently promoted to the main team during the recent Summer split.

In the recent 2-0 victory over DRX, the 30-year-old veteran performed exceptionally well and played a significant role in helping his team secure their third victory in the LCK Summer 2024 group stage, as well as nurturing hopes of competing for a playoff spot. However, NS’s journey remains challenging as their upcoming opponent is BNK FearX – a team that is also currently on an impressive upward trend and has recently defeated two “giants” of LCK, T1 and KT Rolster, convincingly.
