The highlight of the 7th week of LCK Summer 2024 was undoubtedly the clash between T1 and Gen.G. With Chovy and his teammates achieving 13 consecutive victories in the group stage, T1 seemed to be the most likely name the audience could trust to end this unbeaten streak. However, the reality proved otherwise as T1 was completely crushed by Gen.G and suffered a disappointing 0-2 defeat.

What’s particularly noteworthy is that this recent victory for Gen.G marks a significant milestone. This is now the 10th consecutive victory for Gen.G against T1 in their encounters at LCK. Even the team once considered T1’s arch-rival – KT, in the “telecom battle”, has never achieved this record.

Right after the match ended, Gen.G’s 10 consecutive wins against T1 immediately became the center of attention. Many questions were raised by the media to Gen.G players about the secret behind their ability to repeatedly defeat the world champions. In response to this issue, Chovy stated that the most important thing to win is not to be “picky”.
“I really have no aversion to newly released champions. I think to win, you have to be able to play all champions. I practice with the principle of never being picky and must be ready to play any champion requested by the coach. For me, a professional player must have such skills to avoid becoming a weakness for the team,” Chovy revealed after the victory against T1.

Indeed, when looking at the champion pool that Chovy uses, fans can see that it embodies the Mid Lane meta in LCK Summer 2024. There, champions like Corki, Lucian, Tristana, and even Zeri are very strong choices. In fact, looking back at LCK Spring 2024, Chovy was the Mid Laner with the widest champion pool, using up to 16 different champions in the group stage.

Thanks to this incredibly diverse champion pool, it is nearly impossible for Chovy to be “read” at this point. This has significantly contributed to the consecutive LCK championships and most recently, Gen.G’s MSI 2024 title. Hopefully, Chovy will continue to maximize this strength and achieve great things at the upcoming Worlds 2024.
