MC Minh Nghi Faces Unjust Criticism Due to VCS Incident
As we know, the VCS Summer 2024 has recently concluded with GAM Esports taking home the championship. Alongside the intense matches, another special aspect is that for the first time in many years, VCS audience got to witness the players competing in person in an offline format. However, since the matches were not held in a dedicated Esports arena, technical issues were inevitable. There is no denying that the VCS organizers and Riot made efforts to bring the matches to the audience. Yet, incidents occurred, leading to MC Minh Nghi, a renowned figure in VCS, bearing the brunt of the fallout.
Specifically, there were several technical issues that delayed the matches longer than expected. At that moment, MC Minh Nghi handled the situation in a manner that many VCS viewers deemed professional and quick-witted, as she conducted a quick interview with Bomman and Theanh96 – two prominent members of 500Bros. However, a content creator used this flexible improvisation by the female MC to criticize her and the duo, claiming that the couple of MC Minh Nghi and Theanh96 were “riding the fame” of VCS to attract attention.
Fans Rally to Defend MC Minh Nghi
Immediately, without waiting for the veteran MC to respond, many VCS fans and even fans of 500Bros came to her defense. This is because the time taken to handle the issue was long enough that the organizers had to make immediate adjustments. The fact that MC Minh Nghi interviewed Bomman and Theanh96 was an unavoidable circumstance. Many fans present at the scene even argued that MC Minh Nghi and both Bomman and Theanh96 should be praised for their quick thinking, which allowed the VCS organizers time to address the technical errors.
Indeed, the female MC does not deserve the criticism from a portion of VCS viewers. However, for the majority of Vietnamese LoL fans, especially those present at the Nguyen Du Stadium during the recent grand finals, MC Minh Nghi showcased the caliber of a veteran MC who has been with VCS for 10 years, and that is something that perhaps another person would have found difficult to handle as well in such a rushed situation.
