The Rise of Wukong in TFT Season 12
When TFT Season 12 launched, Wukong was a champion that didn’t garner much attention as the “Great Sage” often fell outside the meta compositions. However, with the release of patch 14.16, Wukong received a significant buff from Riot Games in the shield amount created, especially at levels 1 and 2 stars. This greatly enhances this unit’s durability and allows backline carries to deal damage more comfortably.
To complement Wukong, Chinese experts have turned to Jinx and other Hunter units as primary carries. The simple reason is that both Wukong and Jinx are priced at 3 gold, allowing players to upgrade both units to 3 stars more easily. Building the Wukong – Hunter Composition in TFT Season 12
In the early game, players should aim for cheap yet quality Hunter and Vanguard champions to maintain health. Players can easily equip items early on for Twitch (attack items) and Warwick (defensive items) if they want to secure an early win streak. These units are excellent item holders for Jinx and Wukong in the later stages of the game.
Moving into the mid-game at level 7, players should start the reroll process to seek and upgrade Wukong and Jinx. Furthermore, players should add Kog’Maw and Nunu to increase damage by activating the 3 Honeycomb bonus. Additionally, Zilean is a great support unit at this stage as his ability provides a very annoying stun.
After successfully upgrading Wukong and Jinx to 3 stars, players will aim to reach level 8 and add high-value 4 gold units. Among these, Rakan and Gwen are the units to purchase to enhance both the tankiness and damage of the composition. Moreover, the appearance of Rumble and Bard will also activate the 4 Sweet Tooth bonus to enhance resources and significantly increase Jinx’s damage.
Tips for Building the Wukong – Hunter Composition
When building items for Wukong, the Stone Guardian should be prioritized the most as its passive significantly increases armor/magic resistance. For Jinx, Guinsoo’s Rageblade and Hextech Gunblade are powerful items that enhance her damage output. Additionally, if players have the opportunity, cores providing Guardian Emblems are very suitable for this composition as they help both Wukong and Jinx continuously regenerate health and energy.
