In recent seasons of the LCK, Gen.G and T1 have always been viewed as top contenders for the championship. The proof is that in the last 5 LCK finals, the two teams that always made it to the grand finals were Gen.G and T1. Among these, Gen.G won 4 times while T1 only had one victory at the LCK Spring 2022.
And in the current LCK Summer 2024, the above scenario can completely repeat itself as Gen.G recently overcame DK to reach the winners’ finals. Meanwhile, T1 has not been eliminated from the tournament yet and remains a contender that cannot be underestimated. Canyon Reveals T1 Has An Extremely Powerful Weapon
Right after Gen.G defeated DK, the South Korean media turned their attention to the next epic battle between T1 and HLE. They even sought opinions from Gen.G players about the strength of the two teams and predictions for the upcoming match. Therefore, Canyon did not hesitate to reveal an extremely powerful weapon of T1 that makes him and the Gen.G team always reluctant to face off.
“To be honest, both T1 and HLE are very strong teams. If I had to choose, I think I would be more reluctant to face T1. The T1 players have an extremely wide champion pool and are ready to deploy various strategies depending on the game or specific opponent. Preparing strategies to face T1 is always a difficult task, so they are truly a “tough opponent” for me,” Canyon shared with the media.
Looking back at the match between T1 and KT, the audience can understand Canyon’s concerns. In that match, T1 brought many surprising picks like Lee Sin Support, Vayne Top, or Smolder Mid. Even the duo of Gumayusi and Keria in that match used 4 different ADC-Support pairs throughout the Bo5 against KT. This allowed T1 to avoid being read by their opponents and achieve a convincing victory.
For Gen.G, preparing plans to face T1 requires a huge workload from both coaches and players. Perhaps this is why, despite having defeated T1 multiple times in the past, Canyon still always fears facing Faker and his teammates.
