LPL Fans Also Feel for Ruler
Recently, JD Gaming – a team that was predicted to be the first in League of Legends history to complete the Golden Road in 2023 – officially missed out on Worlds 2024 after a 2-3 defeat to Weibo Gaming. This season, JDG underwent several personnel changes, but just two positions caused the former MSI 2024 champions to fall drastically. Ruler, the AD Carry, despite his efforts, still couldn’t secure the last ticket for LPL to Worlds 2024 for JDG. However, witnessing Ruler’s performance in the recent match against WBG truly highlighted how helpless he was.

Even LPL fans felt sympathy for Ruler’s efforts as he seemed to be the only player on the JDG roster in the last match who played with 100% performance and focus. Even when using a fragile and less mobile champion like Ashe, Ruler managed to deliver some outstanding “kite” plays. On the HUPU platform, LPL fans rated Ruler the highest in the match along with the message: “You don’t need to stay at JDG anymore. Thank you for the wonderful performances over the past two years. Please return to LCK, you deserve a better Mid Lane.”

What Does the Future Hold for Ruler?
In reality, Ruler has proven his skills and mindset, maintaining peak performance throughout this time. However, if he returns to LCK, this will be a decision Ruler must consider carefully. Previously, he stated he would not join any team other than Gen.G. But currently, Peyz is still performing well and working harmoniously with the veterans. Thus, the chance for Ruler at Gen.G seems almost nonexistent. If Ruler were to be recruited to rotate with Peyz, it could diminish the talents of both players.
Moreover, whether he wants to or not, Ruler still has a year left on his contract with JDG. It’s possible that JDG will build a new roster focusing on Ruler and Sheer after this 2024 season ends, as the contracts of the remaining four members (Flandre, Kanavi, Yagao, Missing) have expired. This could also be a wise move, as Ruler has shown how well he can play even in tough situations. Sheer is a young player with a bright future ahead. Building a roster around this duo could be a long-term investment for JDG.

It is nearly certain that Ruler will not return to LCK in 2025. Therefore, fans should probably just wait for JDG to build a new roster with more driven players to join Ruler in conquering both domestic and international tournaments next year.
