Ruler Officially Penalized
As reported, during the early group stage of LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2, Gen.G’s Ruler unexpectedly ran into tax issues when it was discovered that the player had engaged in long-term tax evasion practices. Although Ruler has fulfilled his tax obligations, the incident sparked widespread public debate. Recently, after the conclusion of the first phase of LCK 2026, Ruler has officially received a penalty.

Accordingly, the Sports Justice Committee under KeSPA has formally issued a disciplinary penalty to Ruler. The punishment includes 40 hours of community service and a disciplinary fine of up to 20 million won. According to many assessments, the penalty will be implemented during the break between the two phases of this year’s LCK, especially since Gen.G did not qualify for MSI 2026 and EWC 2026 is still some time away.

This Penalty Could Actually Benefit Ruler
Despite the financial impact, receiving a penalty may relieve Ruler of the psychological burden he has carried recently. Based on statements from Ruler and his representative, it is understood that the Gen.G ADC has already settled his tax payments, effectively closing the case. However, what the public needed was a formal penalty. Though mainly symbolic as a deterrent, the timing of this penalty is both necessary and appropriate.

Furthermore, Gen.G still has many tournaments ahead. If after serving the penalty and resting, Ruler can regain his peak form, this penalty could have a positive and necessary impact.
