Recently, during Road to MSI 2026, KT pulled off a spectacular Reverse Sweep against DK. Not only did they come from behind to win overall, but in the two most crucial games, KT reversed the situation even when their opponents had significant advantages. One key factor was KT securing two Elder Dragons in these deciding games, and this surprisingly links back to… T1.
Specifically, the community identified an important factor: in KT’s loss against T1, in both games, KT focused their play around Dragon buffs and even secured the Dragon Soul, while T1 barely contested these objectives during those phases. However, T1 managed to stall long enough for their players to hit late-game power spikes. Regarding the Elder Dragon, T1 won the contest while KT lost despite holding many advantages.
In the match against DK, KT completely reversed their approach. In the two comeback games, KT acted like T1 by willingly conceding both the Infernal and Ocean Dragon Souls in those games to their opponents. They then focused on defense, forcing DK into an even 50-50 contest over the Elder Dragon, eventually winning by stealing the buff. Moreover, KT arguably showed even greater resilience than T1 when in game 4 they allowed DK to lead by over 10k gold — a deficit that strong teams usually snowball to close the game quickly.

In fact, after facing T1, KT’s last opponent in the LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 group stage was a very weak DNS team, which KT easily defeated with a dominant score. Immediately after DNS, they faced DK. Therefore, it can be inferred that the loss against T1 may have partly helped KT “prepare their gear” for this Road to MSI.
