The champion Vex will be the latest addition to the Summoner’s Rift, specifically after the official update of patch 11.19. This will be the first Yordle champion that Riot brings to the League of Legends community in over 5 years. Notably, according to previous disclosures, Vex is the name that prompted Riot to raise the recommended system requirements, and in reality, this champion’s abilities will not be directly used by her but will belong to the shadow that always accompanies Vex.

On September 7 (Vietnam time), the League of Legends community was introduced to Vex’s skill set, and according to many evaluations, with her passive that can stop dashes, Vex will be a counter to the “national champion” Yasuo in the near future, especially if Vex is brought into the professional arena, as it will significantly reduce the mobility of characters like Renekton, Yasuo…
Riot also revealed the initial designs of Vex, many of which look quite “cool,” and can even be described as almost a mini version of the famous singer Billie Eilish. In addition, according to Riot’s disclosure, the initial abilities of Vex created by Nathan ‘Lutzburg’ Lutz were even much stronger.

“Vex’s initial gameplay, designed by Lutzburg, includes an ability that opens a portal through which it expands the ability range of allies,” Riot stated. “For instance, players would experience Miss Fortune’s Bullet Storm with double the range or Blitzcrank’s Rocket Grab could suddenly appear out of nowhere. Those would be incredibly terrifying yet fresh experiences.”
However, according to Riot, these plans ultimately could not be realized. The reason disclosed is that if this skill set were applied to Vex, then all directional skill systems would have to be redone to fit Vex. And that would consume a significant amount of manpower and budget.
In the end, Riot agreed on the current design regarding Vex’s appearance and skill set. As for how powerful this champion can actually be, players will have to wait for patch 11.19 to fully experience it.
